To: editor@guardianunlimited.co.ukHello, I haven’t heard from you since I replied on Wednesday; I’m wondering if you have any update.
The cached link that I sent you, below, no longer works. However, I found a french site which is mirroring the story:
http://bellaciao.org/en/article.php3?id_article=6447
The article is by Mark Townsend, and is titled “Vicious assault on whistleblower and ex-employee of the Los Alamos weapons lab”. The story was posted to the guardian/observer site on Sunday, June 12th, and was gone by Monday June 13th (but, the search engine caches still worked at that point). A copy of the story was posted to a mailing list with approximately 500 participants, and I know of at least half a dozen blogs which featured it (and now feature the fact that the guardian has pulled it.)
Please respond with an explanation as to why it was pulled. Given the story’s subject matter, the obvious conclusion is censorship; I would hate to believe that the Guardian would accede to such pressure. Please reassure me otherwise.
Thanks
Reuben
See previous post here for background.
UPDATE:
When I wrote this, the link I’d copied from google’s cache was no longer working. Turns out that was my bad; I wasn’t using the bookmarkable form of the cache link. I have now updated the links in the original post, so you can see the cache in all of its glory.
