It can’t hurt to write your senators about Peak Oil; this is an issue which needs to come under the national spotlight, and your politicians will not raise the issue until enough of their constituents are bugging them about it. (Remember Jimmy Carter!)

Review the stories I’ve gathered in the energy crisis section of this site, if you remain to be convinced of the inevitability of the problem. The only variable open to discussion is when the crisis will happen; that it will happen is not under question in any shape or form.

I suggest a letter similar to this. If you have better wording, add your own in the comments section.

Dear Senator [ ],

As one of your constituents, I urge you to raise the issue of Peak Oil for discussion in the Senate. Recently, one of the world’s top energy companies, Exxon-Mobil, predicted that Oil production will peak within the next 5 years. Analysts around the globe predict that this will be followed by massive shocks to the economy, and resultant turmoil.

There is plenty of data available on the issue. I urge you to do your own research and form your own conclusions. We may be able to avert crisis if action is taken at a policy level now. The issue is extremely urgent.

Thanks for your attention,
