Russia faces an energy crisis without long-awaited reforms to allow foreign investment in its ageing energy system, the head of Russia’s power monopoly said in an interview published on Friday.
Anatoly Chubais, head of Unified Energy System, urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to allow stakes in generating companies to be floated on foreign stock exchanges.
“The system physically cannot cope with demand,” he said in an interview with Britain’s Financial Times newspaper.
