V For Vendetta is an excellent political allegory clothed in action-movie trappings. The only part that I’d change is likely something that came from Alan Moore’s original graphic novel, the “origins” story, but that’s a minor flash in the pan compared to the power and freshness of the rest of the movie. I’m unusual in that I actually *liked* the sequels to The Matrix (although the original of course stood alone), but I don’t think it’s too controversial a position to assert that the Wachowski brothers delivered a brilliant screenplay from the source material. The first time director did a fine job also. Ignore the trailers (if they depict it as mindless action hero fare); ignore the right wing blatherers, who will undoubtedly be panning this movie; go see it.

It was a great movie and gave me a lot to think about. It wrote a similar review on my blog. None the less this is the kind of movie you’re proud of seeing and wish everyone else could get the message depicted in that picture.
